3. Old sliding glass door can be fitted with a patio door lock. However some older patio doors could be lifted off their track. In such cases, fit two screws in the channel which is above the opening door. The heads should protrude just enough for the door to slide open.

4. Do not hide the spare key outside the house. Burglars know all the places the owners use to hide the keys from the flower pot to the sunshade. You can also give the keys to the neighbor if you trust him.

10. Replace the glass panes in your doors with laminated glass or a window security film to protect the glass.
